Video series:
"Weekly Learning Series"
I developed a weekly web series hosted in the client’s LMS. This popular web series increased employee engagement in the LMS by 35% to 48% throughout different regions around the world. An additional benefit is that this series provided an avenue for Subject Matter Experts to also provide quick videos to share their own information and benefit the company.
Clients
A global automotive company.
This video series consists of more than 40 videos with various topics and presenters. To accommodate for the global audience each episode is subtitled in 7 languages consisting of English, Spanish, German, French, Mandarin, Japanese, and Hindi.
Deliverables
Episode Scripts
MP4 files
High resolution stills
Promotional media
The final deliverables for the web series includes a written script for each episode with subtitle localization in 7 languages. The video files are exported in various resolutions optimized for browser viewing, mobile viewing, and large screen viewing. Additionally, high resolution stills and clips are taken from each episode to produce marketing materials which can be in the form of articles published on the intranet home page, internal social media (Microsoft Viva Engage), and Sharepoint sites.

Throughout every aspect of this production, I have harnessed a comprehensive set of skills to deliver engaging visual narratives. My process begins with a thorough Needs Analysis, ensuring a deep understanding of the target audience and aligning video content with organizational objectives. Incorporating principles of Adult Learning, I structure videos to resonate with viewers, making the content not only informative but also conducive to effective knowledge retention. My ability to manage Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) has been instrumental in extracting relevant insights, transforming complex information into accessible visual stories. Throughout the production phase, I leverage my expertise in Video Production, seamlessly combining footage, animations, and graphics to create visually stunning and dynamic content. Script writing is a fundamental skill I bring to every project, ensuring a cohesive and compelling narrative that aligns with the project’s goals and engages the audience effectively. Moreover, my proficiency in DaVinci Resolve Studio, Camtasia Studio, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe After Effects enables me to enhance visual appeal, incorporate seamless transitions, and produce polished videos that captivate and inform.
Overview
One of the early issues that the client was facing was a lack of engagement from employees with the Learning Management System (LMS). My goal was to increasing traffic to the LMS by 30% across different regions.
I quickly implemented a collection of projects and strategies that ultimately increased employee participation and engagement, increasing overall utilization of training resources by 37% in North America, 30% across Europe, 45% in India, and 35% in China.
One of the projects I implemented was the weekly learning web series. With this series I was able to create dozens of quick-deliverable videos that could cover a wide variety of topics. The format for the script is similar for every episode to streamline the writing process. I designed the virtual set and graphical elements to make it easily adaptable to any type of presentation style content. The biggest variation for the series was for the topics, which range from technical info, personal development, process walkthroughs, and leadership fireside chats.
The pre-production process followed the ADDIE model neatly. For topics I developed, I began by determining topics based on needs analysis or direct audience feedback. From there I would research the topic from reputable sources and put together a script that presented the topic in a linear flow from introduction to explanation to implementation and finally conclusion. For topics developed by SME’s I put together a template that the SME could use to flesh out the content in a method that matched the production style. I would then schedule the time and date of filming after the script has been verified, or at least reviewed by at least 2 others.
Production begins with gathering b-roll footage, designing any graphics to compliment the content, and sampling music. On the recording day the on-camera host is brought into the studio. They are fitted with a lav microphone and audio levels are tested. Camera is focused and the teleprompter speed is tested. I’ll record the presenter without any cuts, but use an app to track successful takes. If the work needs voice over, that is recorded in the same environment to minimize audio differences.
Post-production phase includes importing audio and video footage to the production computer. The shots tagged successful are put in place, the green screen is keyed out, and all the graphics for the video are produced. Finally, a first draft of the video is rendered.
The evaluation process of the video is then initiated, with various stakeholders and leaders reviewing the content. The communications and marketing departments are sent a copy to review to make sure the content complies with company visual guidelines. If there are any notes then the changes are made and a final version of the video is published in the LMS.
Key Elements
Overall the series has been incredibly rewarding to write, record, edit, and produce. Once the format and workflow were completed, the average turn around time for each episode was between one to three days, depending on the topic. This includes Script writing, recording, audio editing, video editing, and animations through the final render.
To further maximize output, I would often record several episodes worth of content in a single day. For example, the four episodes of the DiSC series were all recorded on the same day with production being completed within the span of 3 days. They were then scheduled to be published nearly a month later with a week between each episode. This workflow allowed for content to be published at weekly intervals while work on the project could be as little as 3-4 days each month.
To continue innovating on the project, I tested 3 new processes. The first innovation was to redesign the set from a static wall and monitor to a fully realized and branded virtual environment developed in Unreal Engine. With the new background I also began testing virtual production methods utilizing camera tracking and live visuals on an LED wall. The final innovation that I have been testing is the use of AI avatars through Synthesia.io which allows even faster turn around time for production. Each of these innovations have been expanded on and further developed into other projects.
